Extend your stay: Hakuba Alps Hotel

If you want to make the most of your time in Tsugaike, staying overnight is the way to go.
I stayed at the Hakuba Alps Hotel, and it felt like stepping into another era with its nostalgic Showa-era charm.

After a full day of hiking, the onsen was precisely what I needed—warm, soothing, and a perfect way to unwind while surrounded by mountain views. Given how remote the hotel is, I didn’t have high expectations for the buffet, but I was pleasantly surprised. The variety and quality of both Japanese and Western dishes made it a great way to refuel for another day of exploring!

Tokyo to Nagano Station
Start your journey by taking the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano Station. This high-speed train ride takes approximately 1.5 hours, providing a comfortable and scenic trip through the Japanese countryside.

Nagano Station to Tsugaike Kogen
You can board a direct bus from Nagano Station, operated by ALPICO Kotsu, to Tsugaike Kogen, the gateway to the park. The bus departs four times daily, and the journey takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. This direct connection eliminates the need for multiple transfers, making it a stress-free option for travelers.
